We’re excited to announce that the Friday Tuxedo Tyrants Reception Party is going to be taking place at the brand new LALA Gallery which is opening on 4/21 in the Arts District. This inaugural show will feature work from such Los Angeles luminaries as Shepard Fairey and Saber.

Watch this video in which Daniel Lahoda, curator of the LALA Gallery describes the Los Angeles Freewalls project and the current state of public art in the city.

Digital Artist Matt Bell on merging multiple 3D realities:  “I wrote some software to merge multiple 3D video streams captured by the Kinect into a single 3D space. Objects from each video stream are superimposed as if they occupy the same physical space, with nearby objects from one video occluding more distant ones from another. Sometimes objects overlap, creating interesting mutant forms.”

Mindshare LA holds monthly workshops, salons and movie screenings that gathers hundreds of Angelenos for evenings of inspiration and interaction. Our main event held on the 3rd Thursday of the month includes live music, games, art and a curated program of short, eclectic presentations. Over the years Mindshare has become a mecca for intellectuals, artists, scientists and other progressive characters to meet, broaden their perspective and expand their networks.

Since 2008, The Tuxedo Tyrants have dressed up in their fanciest garb and descended on numerous Los Angeles neighborhoods, with their saucy behavior and tall tales of their exploits. For Mindshare 50, we’ve recruited them to launch the festivities at the Friday night reception! What better way to meet new friends than by dressing up and acting like well-heeled nutcases?
